New TV Land show, The Big 4-0.
Why
oh why does every generation embrace the opportunity to "redefine what
it means to hit 40"? Every decade we have to go through this, and it
gets a little less original (and less convincing) each time.
"Our bodies aren't sagging and falling apart, we're young and hip!"
Nobody ever believes it but them.
I've
known many women who, in their forties, were beautiful and sexy, but
not a one of them was trying to pass for 26. And as a young woman, I
found forty-something men who bragged about their experiences in the
1960s far more appealing than forty-something men who boasted about
their stamina while trying to cover their bald spots.
So just deal with it. You're 40. What did that mean to you when you were 20 years old?
It still means that now.
